About Heather Hopes, Inc.
Heather Hopes, Inc. was founded in 2006 by Fern Jinkins, a dedicated minister and passionate advocate for women's restoration and empowerment. The organization was born from a deeply personal and transformative experience. One night, Fern received an urgent call to assist a teenage girl named Heather—a young woman battling substance abuse and grappling with profound emotional trauma.
As Fern worked closely with Heather, alongside Child Protective Services and local community partners, the full scope of Heather’s situation came to light. Heather had endured sexual abuse within her family, struggled with addiction, and undertaken a harrowing journey of more than 265 miles in search of safety, healing, and a sense of self-worth. Through this powerful connection, Fern witnessed firsthand the complex and painful realities faced by many young women in similar circumstances.
Deeply moved and guided by prayer and purpose, Fern established Heather Hopes, Inc. as a beacon of hope and transformation. Since its inception, the organization has remained steadfast in its mission to support women who have experienced incarceration, abuse, addiction, and systemic disadvantage.
Heather Hopes, Inc. is committed to breaking generational cycles of trauma, addiction, and crime. We focus on empowering women—and their daughters—through comprehensive services that include educational support, life skills development, structured mentorship, and strong advocacy. By fostering self-esteem, independence, and resilience, we strive to equip each woman with the tools and confidence needed to rebuild her life and achieve lasting success.
We believe in second chances, the power of transformation, and the strength found in community. Our vision is to see every woman, man, and family rise beyond their past, reclaim their identity, and walk confidently into a future filled with purpose, healing, and hope. By fostering resilience and empowerment, we aim to break generational cycles and help individuals and families thrive—together.

Heather Hopes Inc. Volunteers are a dedicated group committed to making a difference in the community, especially by serving the homeless and those in need. Each week, our volunteers teach life-skills classes at the Presbyterian Night Shelter at True Worth Place, offering guidance and hope. We’ve supported children with back-to-school drives by providing free backpacks, school supplies, new shoes, calculators, and toys for our annual Christmas giveaway. Our efforts extend to supporting seniors with free gas cards and working families by assisting with utility bills. Volunteers also help canvass neighborhoods to encourage voter participation and take part in weekly phone banking. When funding is available, we offer stipends to high school student volunteers to support their service. We've stood alongside seniors to advocate for social change and are actively working to reduce recidivism by teaching computer classes to ex-offenders, helping them gain skills for employment. In our ongoing fight against food scarcity, we collect and distribute free food and fresh vegetables, ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
Community partners include: Frost Bank, Snooze, Sprouts, Walmart, Sam's Club, Target, Black Voters Matters, DFW CITIWomen, Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission, Presbyterian Night Shelter, Home of Greater Joy, Clergy and Police Alliance, Street FX Bikers Club, Mercy 1st Ministry The Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Prison Fellowship, Women Who Care Share, and Fort Worth Five Loaves & Two Fish Outreach.

At the core of our outreach is the Ready to Thrive Program, designed to reduce recidivism in Tarrant County by offering individuals a path to stability through free computer literacy courses and job placement referrals.
