Empower and support formerly incarcerated women by fostering family reunification, reducing recidivism, promoting education, life skills training, mentorship, and advocacy for both women and their children.
Heather Hopes, Inc. was established in 2006 by our founder, Fern Jinkins. The organization originated when Fern, a minister, was urgently called in the middle of the night to aid Heather, a drug-addicted teenager struggling with various challenges. After forming a bond with Heather and collaborating with Child Protective Services and community resources, Fern learned about Heather's drug addiction, experiences of sexual abuse within her family, and her desperate journey of over 265 miles to escape pain and worthlessness.
Driven by this encounter, Fern felt compelled to help young women facing similar struggles. After days of prayer, Heather Hopes Inc. was born. Today, the organization continues its mission to support women who have experienced incarceration, survived abuse, battled drug addiction, and aspire to build better lives. To break the cycle of addiction, crime, and the damaging effects of victimization leading to low self-esteem, we focus on empowering women and their daughters through education, life skills training, mentorship, and advocacy.
Heather Hopes, Inc. is a beacon of hope and support for women and girls in Fort Worth, Texas. Our free programs and services use practical approaches to support and empower women and girls who have experienced or live in extremely adverse situations and want a better life.
Heather Hopes Inc. is also dedicated to helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, offering a lifeline to those facing these harrowing ordeals. We not only offer material support but also help individuals and families rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.
